Calcite

Calcite is a mineral form of calcium carbonate with the chemical formula CaCO3. It is related to other calcium carbonates such as Aragonite and Vaterite.

Uses

Along with quartz, Calcite is among one of the most commonly used minerals. Stones containing calcite is used to create concrete for construction. Many rocks are made of Calcite - famous buildings such as the marble Capitol are primarily composed of calcite. Pigments and powder may also be produced from Calcite.
