Wulfenite
Wulfenite is a molybdate mineral. The mineral often forms in red or orange crystals, but yellow or brown opaque blades are not uncommon. Wulfenite occurs as a secondary mineral in oxidized lead deposits. The mineral is often associated with Anglesite, Cerussite, Mimetite, and other lead minerals.
Uses
Wulfenite is valued among mineral collectors for its vibrant color and sharp crystal form.
Notable Localities
Wulfenite is found in numerous localities, mostly throughout the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. Vibrant and translucent red-orange crystals have been found at the Red Cloud Mine of Arizona, while obpaque, yellow crystals originate from the Los Lamentos area of Chihuahua. The San Francisco and Ojuela Mines of Mexico also produce rectangular crystals.
