Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan

The pegmatites in Gilgit-Baltistan are nestled in the rugged Karakoram Range and Hindu Kush Mountains — two ranges formed by the collision of the Eurasian and Indian plates over 100 million years ago. Though famed for its rich Aquamarine deposits, the region has also produced a variety of other minerals commonly found in pegmatites, including Schorl, Albite, Muscovite, and some Amphiboles.
