Fluorite

Fluorite is a halide mineral crystallizing in a cubic habit. It is the mineral form of the compound calcium fluoride: (chemical formula: CaF2 ) and is composed primarily of the elements fluorine and calcium. Fluorite occurs in nearly every color, with the most common hue being a deep purple.

Uses

Fluorite is a source of Fluorine, a major component of toothpaste and chemical items. Fluorite has been used in ornamental and decorative applications as well, with jars, vases, and panes being produced with slabs of the mineral. Fine crystals of Fluorite are desirable among mineral collectors.
