Katanga Region, D.R. of the Congo

The Katanga Region of the Democratic Republic of Congo is a prominent copper mining region. Famous localities include the Lupoto and Lubumbashi Mines. Most new Chrysocolla and Malachite specimens originate from deposits in the region. Fine specimens of Azurite and Cornetite have also been found in the region.
