Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Santa Cruz Municipality, Sonora, Mexico
After its opening in 2006, the Milpillas Mine quickly became a famous producer of copper minerals, including Malachite, Azurite, Cuprite, and Chrysocolla. Part of the Porphyry Copper Deposits in southwestern North America, mineral specimens from the mine have been compared to earlier finds in Bisbee, Arizona. During its short, 9-year lifepsan, the Milpillas Mine also produced unrivaled specimens of Brochantite and Volborthite in addition to an assortment of other copper carbonates.
