Mibladen District, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco

The Mibladen District is nested in the xeric Atlas mountains of Morocco. The arid climate has allowed Vanadinite, found in the oxidized zones of lead deposits, to form. The area was originally mined commercially for lead beginning around the mid-1930s until its closure in 1983. Since then, the district has been repurposed as a source of collectible minerals, worked periodically by prospectors after major discoveries of minerals or “booms”, the most recent of which has occurred in early 2019. The district is notable for its production of lead minerals such as Vanadinite, Barite, Cerussite, and Galena.
